Plans and limits

Every VitalSentinel plan limit in one place - prices, yearly discount, module limits, check intervals, Theo AI answers and how long each module keeps your data.

View as Markdown

This page lists every limit of the five VitalSentinel plans: Free, Starter, Lite, Standard and Advanced. It also shows how long each module keeps your data. To change your plan, see Billing.

Before you start

  • Limits apply to the whole workspace, unless a row says "per domain" or "per page".
  • In the app, the workspace owner sees most of these numbers under Choose a plan and in the Compare all features table on the Billing page.
  • Prices are in US dollars, plus applicable tax.

Prices and the yearly discount

FreeStarterLiteStandardAdvanced
Monthly price$0$39$129$249$449
Yearly price-$390$1,290$2,490$4,490

A yearly payment costs the same as 10 monthly payments. You get 2 months free. On the Billing page, the Yearly option of the Monthly / Yearly switch shows this as 2 months free. The Free plan has no payment, so it has no yearly price.

To change the billing cycle of a paid plan, see Billing.

Domains and team

FreeStarterLiteStandardAdvanced

The Free plan is for one person. On the Free plan, the Members page shows "The Free plan is for one person. Upgrade your workspace to invite teammates." Each account can have one Free workspace. See Members.

Web Analytics events a month100K500K5M25M50M
CrUX URLs5101001,0005,000

The RUM page views and Web Analytics events limits reset at the start of each billing cycle. When a module reaches its limit, it stops collecting new data until the next cycle. The data that it already collected stays. See RUM Monitoring, Web Analytics and CrUX Monitoring.

Server Log Monitoring

FreeStarterLiteStandardAdvanced
Log hits a month500K1M10M50M100M
SourcesCloudflare Worker onlyAll sourcesAll sourcesAll sourcesAll sources

Server Log Monitoring is on every plan. "All sources" means the Cloudflare Worker, SFTP and FTPS, cloud storage buckets (S3, R2 and Google Cloud Storage) and file upload. On the Free plan, connect your logs with the Cloudflare Worker. The log hits limit is the number of bot hits that the workspace can store in one billing cycle. All domains in the workspace share it. See Connect server logs and Server Log Monitoring settings.

Indexing Monitoring

FreeStarterLiteStandardAdvanced
Indexing properties131035100
URL-prefix propertiesRoot onlyRoot onlyAny pathAny pathAny path

"Root only" means that the plan can use only Search Console properties for the whole site, for example https://www.example.com/ or a domain property. "Any path" means that the plan can also use URL-prefix properties for a folder, for example https://www.example.com/blog/. Google allows 2,000 page checks a day for each property. See Indexing Monitoring.

"Pages checked" is the number of pages that Site Health Monitoring checks again and again. "Known pages" is the number of pages that it keeps track of. It picks the checked pages from these pages. "Extra checks after site changes" means that VitalSentinel can check pages again soon after your site changes. The Free plan does not have them. See Site Health Monitoring.

  • Slack and webhook alerts show the chip On Lite and higher plans on lower plans. See Alert delivery.
  • API credits pay for requests to the public API and the MCP server. Many requests are free. See API credits and Credits.
  • Manual page checks are checks of a watched page that you start with Check this page again in Page Monitoring, the API (run:pages) or the MCP server. All of them use the same hourly allowance of the workspace. Only checks through the API or the MCP server cost API credits. See Check a page again.
  • Theo AI answers are counted for each workspace and month. Built-in answers, suggested questions and docs answers do not count. The Theo limits protect Theo against misuse. VitalSentinel can change them at any time without prior notice. See Theo limits.

How long VitalSentinel keeps your data

VitalSentinel deletes data when it becomes older than the window of its module. The window is the same on every plan, with two exceptions: the page change history (see above) and Server Log Monitoring on the Free plan.

ModuleData kept for
Google Search Console5 years
Web Analytics3 years
RUM Monitoring16 months
CrUX Monitoring16 months
Indexing Monitoring16 months
Robots.txt Monitoring16 months
Server Log Monitoring12 months (90 days on Free)
Synthetic Monitoring12 months
Uptime Monitoring (including SSL and domain checks)12 months
Sitemap Monitoring12 months

The History kept rows of the Compare all features table on the Billing page show seven of these modules. Robots.txt Monitoring, Uptime Monitoring and Sitemap Monitoring are not in these rows.

Shorter windows inside some modules

Some detailed views keep less than their module:

  • Synthetic Monitoring: the full report of a test (screenshots, the waterfall and the console messages) stays for 6 months. The scores and metrics stay for 12 months. See Test details.
  • Server Log Monitoring: the request-level detail of one page (the page drilldown) stays for about one week. Query parameter names in Crawl budget stay for 90 days. The RUM Monitoring tab of Crawl vs results reads at most 90 days. All other Server Log Monitoring reports keep the window of the module. See Server Log Monitoring.
  • Theo: conversations have their own retention. See Theo privacy.

When you change to a lower plan

A lower plan can have a shorter page change history. Then VitalSentinel keeps new page changes for the shorter time of the new plan. For example, after a change from Lite to Starter, new changes stay for 90 days instead of 12 months. The ? next to Usage overview on the Billing page shows from which date your history is kept and for how long.

If a module keeps its history for less time on the new plan, VitalSentinel keeps the older data for 30 days. Under the usage rows on the Billing page, a line says, for example, "Server Log Monitoring keeps 1 year of history until" and a date. After that date, VitalSentinel deletes the data that is older than the window of your plan.

Troubleshooting

What happens when my workspace reaches a plan limit?

A module that reaches its monthly limit stops collecting new data until the next billing cycle. It shows a banner, for example Web Analytics has reached this month's limit. The workspace owner can click Compare plans to see the higher plans. Data that the module already collected stays.

Why can I not add more pages, URLs or domains?

Some limits are counts: domains, CrUX URLs, Synthetic test URLs, watched pages and indexing properties. If the workspace uses all of a count limit, the app does not let you add more. Remove some items, or change to a higher plan on Billing.
