What Theo can read
The read-only data that Theo, the VitalSentinel AI assistant, can use to answer, and the permission rules that limit it.
Theo, the VitalSentinel AI assistant, answers from the docs and from your own data in the app. This page lists each kind of data that Theo can read, and what it lets Theo answer. Theo can only read. Theo cannot change anything.
Before you start
Theo reads data with your own permissions. These rules apply:
- Theo reads only the domains of the workspace that you have open in the app.
- You must be the owner of the workspace or a member who accepted the invitation. With a pending invitation, Theo reads nothing.
- If you ask about a domain of another workspace, Theo says that it cannot find the domain.
- If the subscription of the workspace expired, Theo cannot read the data of that workspace.
If you do not name a domain, Theo uses the domain that you have selected in the app.
The data Theo can read
| Data | Status in the chat | What it lets Theo answer |
|---|---|---|
| Your domains | (none) | Which sites are in the workspace |
| Setup state of a domain | Checking your setup | Which modules are connected, which wait for data, which need attention, and which reached a plan limit |
| Domain summary | Looking at your data | The main numbers of every module of a site |
| Module summary | Looking at your data | The main numbers of one module of a site |
| One page of your site | Looking at the page | What VitalSentinel knows about one URL |
| The current page | (none) | Which app page and filters you look at |
| Open alerts | Checking your alerts | Which alerts are open for a site |
| Plan and usage | Checking your plan | Your plan, its limits and your current usage |
| Your support tickets | Checking your tickets | Your recent tickets and their status |
| The docs | Searching the docs | How a feature works and how to set it up |
Setup state
The setup state tells Theo how far the setup of each module is. Theo uses it first for every question like "Why is there no data here?". It includes the result of the tracking script check, the connection of Google Search Console, and the access of the VitalSentinel crawler to your site. It also includes your usage of RUM Monitoring, Web Analytics and Server Log Monitoring against your plan.
With the setup state, Theo can answer questions like "Why does RUM Monitoring show no data?" or "Is my Search Console connected?".
Domain and module summaries
A domain summary has the main numbers of every module for a site. A module summary has the main numbers of one module. Both cover the last 28 days, compared with the 28 days before. Theo cannot use another date range for these summaries.
The module summary covers these modules:
- RUM Monitoring, CrUX Monitoring and Synthetic Monitoring
- Web Analytics and Google Search Console
- Indexing Monitoring, Robots.txt Monitoring and Sitemap Monitoring
- Uptime Monitoring, Page Monitoring and Site Health Monitoring
With the summaries, Theo can answer questions like "How did my traffic change this month?" or "Which module needs attention first?".
One page of your site
For one URL of your site, Theo can read what VitalSentinel knows now. This includes crawl results, Google Search Console data, indexing status, server log data, Core Web Vitals and alerts. Theo can answer questions like "Why is /pricing slow?" or "Is /blog/post indexed?".
The current page
Theo knows which app page you have open and the filters that you set, for example the date range. When you ask "What does this chart mean?", Theo knows which page you mean.
Open alerts, plan usage and tickets
Theo can read the alerts that are open now for a site. It can answer "Which alerts are open on my site?".
Theo can read your plan, its limits and your current usage. It can answer "How many RUM page views did I use?" or "What does the next plan include?".
Theo can read your own recent support tickets and their status. It can answer "Did the team reply to my ticket?". Theo cannot read the tickets of other people.
The docs
Theo searches these docs (docs.vitalsentinel.com) to explain features, settings and setup steps. Docs cards under an answer open the pages that Theo used.
What Theo cannot read or do
- Theo cannot change, delete or send anything in your account.
- Theo cannot open web pages on the internet. It reads only the data that VitalSentinel already has.
- Theo cannot read the identifiers of your site visitors, the email addresses of other members, or payment details.
- Theo cannot read the data of another workspace.
VitalSentinel removes personal data patterns, such as email addresses and IP addresses, from what Theo reads before it goes to the AI. See Theo and Your Privacy.
Troubleshooting
Why does Theo say it cannot find my domain?
If Theo cannot find a domain, the domain is not in the workspace that you have open. Switch to the correct workspace in the app, then ask again.
Why do Theo's numbers differ from the page?
If you look at a different date range on the page, the numbers can differ. Theo's domain and module summaries always cover the last 28 days.
