# Tips from Theo

Theo, the VitalSentinel AI assistant, sometimes shows a small bubble above the Theo button. A bubble can greet you, explain a page, warn you about a problem, or tell you about a ticket reply. This page explains each kind of bubble and how to turn the tips off.

## Turn tips on or off [#turn-tips-on-or-off]

1. Open the Theo chat.
2. Click **Chat settings** (three dots) in the chat header.
3. Click **Show tips on pages**.

A check mark next to **Show tips on pages** means that tips are on. VitalSentinel shows "Tips on pages are off" or "Tips on pages are on". If the change fails, it shows "Couldn't change the tips setting".

VitalSentinel saves this setting in your account. It applies on all your devices. When tips are off, Theo shows no hello, page, setup problem, critical issue or review bubble. Ticket reply bubbles still show.

## How a tip bubble looks [#how-a-tip-bubble-looks]

A tip bubble shows Theo's face and the name Theo. If the heading does not name the page or the module, the line says "Theo on" and its name, for example "Theo on Web Analytics". Below it are a heading, a short text and up to two buttons. To close a bubble, click the X button (**Dismiss tip**). A dismissed bubble does not come back.

On a narrow screen, for example a phone, the bubble is shorter. It shows only the first paragraph and no issue list.

## When bubbles show [#when-bubbles-show]

- Theo shows at most one bubble on each page view.
- The bubble shows about 1.5 seconds after the page loads. On a page with tabs, it waits a little longer, so that it can greet the tab.
- Theo does not show a bubble while the chat is open, or while a dialog, a drawer or a tour step is open.
- Theo does not show page bubbles on settings pages and forms.
- Theo shows at most one page bubble a minute, so that a fast click through pages does not show many bubbles.
- When **Privacy mode** is on, the Theo button and its bubbles do not show.

## Hello bubble [#hello-bubble]

The first time that Theo sees you, it says hello. The heading is "Hi, I'm Theo". The text is "I watch your sites, flag what needs attention on each page and answer your questions."

- Click **Say hi** to open the Theo chat.
- Click **Later** to close the bubble.

The hello bubble can show on any page, but only once for each person. If Theo already introduced itself during the first setup of your account, the hello bubble does not show.

## Page bubbles [#page-bubbles]

### First visit to a page [#first-visit-to-a-page]

The first time you open a page or a tab, Theo explains it. The heading is "New to [page]?". The text says what the page shows, how to read it and what to do.

If VitalSentinel changes the help text of a page, Theo shows it once more. The heading is then "New on [page]".

### Issues and opportunities on the page [#issues-and-opportunities-on-the-page]

A page bubble can also list what Site Health Monitoring found for the page. The line "Theo found 3 open issues on this page" introduces the top three open issues and the best opportunity. Each row shows the severity, or **Opportunity**, and the weight of the issue. Click a row to open the issue.

If there is only an opportunity, the line says "Theo found an opportunity on this page". If there is nothing open, the bubble says "Site Health Monitoring lists no open issue for this page."

### Buttons on a page bubble [#buttons-on-a-page-bubble]

- **Open in Site Health Monitoring** opens the issue list of the page in Site Health Monitoring.
- **What needs attention here?** opens the Theo chat with the full list of issues.

When the page has no open issues, the bubble shows the page's own buttons instead. Examples are a tour or "Why is there no data here?".

## Setup problem bubble [#setup-problem-bubble]

When a module of your site has a setup problem, Theo warns you. The bubble names the module, for example "Theo on Web Analytics". The same message shows in a box on the chat home. Theo shows each message at most once a week.

| Heading | Example button |
|---|---|
| "[Module] stopped receiving data" | **Check the RUM Monitoring connection** |
| "CrUX Monitoring has no new data" | **Check the CrUX Monitoring setup** |
| "[Module] has not collected any data" | **Check the Web Analytics connection** |
| "Google Search Console needs you to sign in again" | **Reconnect Google Search Console** |
| "[Module] is not connected yet" | **Connect Google Search Console** or **Set up [Module]** |
| "[Module] is waiting for its first data" | **Why is there no data yet?** |
| "[Module] reached your plan limit" | **See plans and usage** |
| "Our crawler cannot reach [site]" | **Fix crawler access** |

The text says what happened, since when, what it affects, and what to do next.

## Critical issue bubble [#critical-issue-bubble]

When a new **Critical** issue opens in Site Health Monitoring for a page, Theo tells you on your next visit to that page. The heading is "New critical issue on [page]". The text names the issue. If more issues opened, it says how many more.

- **Open in Site Health Monitoring** opens the issue. On the page of the issue itself, the button is **Show the issue**.
- **What needs attention here?** opens the Theo chat with the full list.

Theo tells you about each critical issue only once. Theo checks for new critical issues at most once an hour for each page.

## Ticket reply bubble [#ticket-reply-bubble]

When the team replies to one of your support tickets, a bubble shows "The team replied to your ticket" with the ticket number and subject. Click **Open** to read the reply.

If more than one ticket has a new reply, the bubble shows "The team replied to your tickets". The text below says "[number] of your tickets have a new reply." Click **Open your tickets**.

Ticket reply bubbles show even when tips are off. See [Support Tickets](/theo/support-tickets).

## Review request bubble [#review-request-bubble]

After you use VitalSentinel for 21 days, Theo can ask for a review. The heading is "Enjoying VitalSentinel?". The text is "A short review on G2 helps other teams find us."

- Click **Write a review** to open G2 in a new tab. Theo then does not ask again in this browser.
- Click **Maybe later** to close the bubble. Theo asks again after 14 days.

If you ignore the bubble, Theo also waits 14 days. The review request has the lowest priority. It shows only on a page view where no other bubble shows.

## Troubleshooting [#troubleshooting]

### Why do I see no tip bubbles? [#why-do-i-see-no-tip-bubbles]

If you see no tip bubbles, check these items:

- Open **Chat settings** and make sure that **Show tips on pages** has a check mark.
- Close all dialogs and drawers. Bubbles wait until they are closed.
- Make sure that **Privacy mode** is off in your account menu.
- Remember that each page bubble shows only once.

### How do I stop the tips? [#how-do-i-stop-the-tips]

To stop all tips, turn off **Show tips on pages** in the **Chat settings** menu of the Theo chat.
