# New pages

The **New pages** page of the Google Search Console module follows each new page from the day it was first seen to its first Google clicks. It shows how long Google needs to crawl, index and show your new pages, and which pages are stuck. A stuck page is the one to look at first.

## Before you start [#before-you-start]

- Link a Google Search Console property to the domain. See [Connect Google Search Console](/connect/search-console).
- A new page needs a first-seen date. The date comes from [Sitemap Monitoring](/sitemap-monitoring/overview) (the day a page joined a sitemap) or [Site Health Monitoring](/site-health/overview) (the day it found the page).
- For the crawl step, set up Server Log Monitoring. For the index step, Indexing Monitoring helps. See [Server logs](/connect/server-logs) and [Indexing Monitoring](/indexing-monitoring/overview).
- Select **Google Search Console** > **New pages** in the sidebar.

New pages always shows the pages first seen in the last 90 days, so the dock has no date range. Pages that Google already knew before that day are left out.

### When New pages has nothing to show [#when-new-pages-has-nothing-to-show]

- If no module gives a first-seen date, the page shows the buttons **Open Sitemap Monitoring** and **Open Site Health Monitoring**. The headline says "Connect Sitemap Monitoring or Site Health Monitoring to see how new pages do".
- If no page was first seen in the window, the page shows "No new pages in the last 90 days".

New pages show after the next scan finds one. A banner at the top links to the matching issues in Site Health Monitoring, for example new pages that are not in Google.

## New pages and how far they got [#new-pages-and-how-far-they-got]

The **New pages and how far they got** card has five step tiles. Each tile shows how many pages reached the step, their share of the published pages, and the typical time, for example "Typically 2 days".

| Tile | What it counts |
|---|---|
| **Published** | Pages first seen in the last 90 days, from sitemaps and found outside them |
| **Crawled** | Pages with a verified Googlebot visit in your server logs |
| **Indexed** | Pages that showed in a search, or that an inspection found indexed |
| **Showing in Google** | Pages with at least one impression in Google web search |
| **Earning clicks** | Pages with at least one click from Google web search |

Select a tile to list the pages that reached that step. If a step has no source, the tile shows "Not measured" and the reason. For example, the Indexed tile says "No new page has been checked in Google yet". Google Search Console data is usually 2–3 days behind, so the newest pages can read zero for now.

### Pages and Stuck [#pages-and-stuck]

Above the tiles, select **Pages** to list the pages of the selected step. Select **Stuck** to list the pages that stopped. The **Stuck** pill shows the count.

A page counts as stuck when it is older than 14 days and has no impressions and no inspection that found it indexed. Google inspects a sample of pages, so an unchecked page with no impressions can still be in the index.

## List of new pages [#list-of-new-pages]

The list under the tiles has these columns:

| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| **Page** | The page address. Click it to open its Google Search Console data |
| **First seen** | The day the page was first seen. A sitemap icon or a radar icon shows the source |
| **Crawled** | Days from the first sighting to the first verified Googlebot visit |
| **Indexed** | An icon that shows if Google has the page in its index |
| **Shown** | Days from the first sighting to the first time the page showed in a Google search |
| **Clicks, 7 days** | Google clicks in the first 7 days after the page was first seen |
| **Clicks, 30 days** | Google clicks in the first 30 days after the page was first seen |

A step shows "Not yet" when the page has not reached it. A cell shows "Same day" when the step happened on the day the page was first seen. If the first 7 or 30 days are not over, the clicks cell shows the clicks "so far". Owners and admins can watch a page in Page Monitoring from the row.

### Chips and icons after the page address [#chips-and-icons-after-the-page-address]

- **Stuck chip.** For example "Stuck: Not crawled", "Stuck: Not indexed" or "Stuck: No impressions". The hover says why. For example: "Server Log Monitoring has seen no verified Googlebot visit since this page was first seen."
- **Clock.** The page is still inside the wait. It is under 14 days old, and Google needs time to find a new page.

### Why the Indexed column can say unknown [#why-the-indexed-column-can-say-unknown]

Google lets VitalSentinel check about 2,000 pages a day for each property. If VitalSentinel has not checked a page yet, the Indexed column shows a dash. The hover says that it is unknown if the page is indexed. Unknown does not mean that the page is not indexed. A page with impressions is in the index.

## Filters on New pages [#filters-on-new-pages]

The dock on New pages filters the list. The tiles always count every new page, and the page says "The tiles count every new page. The filters narrow the list below."

| Field | What it matches |
|---|---|
| **URL** | The page address |
| **Section** | The first folder of the address ("blog" for /blog/post) |
| **Found via** | **Sitemap** or **Crawl** |
| **Status** | **Stuck**, **Waiting**, **In Google** or **Unknown** |
| **Stuck at** | **Not crawled**, **Not indexed** or **No impressions** |

## How fast new pages take off [#how-fast-new-pages-take-off]

The **How fast new pages take off** chart shows the typical days from the first sighting to each step, by the month the pages were published. It has three lines: **Googlebot visit**, **First impression** and **First click**. Each line is the median days for the pages that reached the step. A page that has not got there yet is left out, not counted as zero. A recent month can look faster than it will end up.

If you have new pages from only one month, the card says "A trend needs two months of new pages".

## Troubleshooting [#troubleshooting]

### Why does New pages ask me to connect Sitemap Monitoring? [#why-does-new-pages-ask-me-to-connect-sitemap-monitoring]

A page needs a first-seen date. Set up Sitemap Monitoring or Site Health Monitoring for the domain. See [Sitemap Monitoring](/sitemap-monitoring/overview) and [Site Health overview](/site-health/overview).

### Why does the Crawled step show "Not measured"? [#why-does-the-crawled-step-show-not-measured]

The crawl step reads verified Googlebot visits from your server logs. If Server Log Monitoring is not set up, the step is not measured. If the logs started after the page was published, its first visit is unknown.

### Why is a new page stuck? [#why-is-a-new-page-stuck]

The page is older than 14 days and Google has not shown it yet. Open the stuck chip to see the step. If the page is not crawled, link to it from other pages and keep it in your sitemap. If it is not indexed, check what Google says about it in Indexing Monitoring.

### Why does a new page show zero impressions? [#why-does-a-new-page-show-zero-impressions]

Google Search Console data is usually 2–3 days behind. The newest pages can read zero for now.
