# Creating Your Account



This guide walks you through creating your account and setting up your profile.

## Sign Up [#sign-up]

1. Navigate to [app.vitalsentinel.com](https://app.vitalsentinel.com)
2. Click **Create a free account**
3. Fill in the registration form:
   * **Email address** - Used for login and notifications
   * **Password** - Create a strong password
   * **Confirm Password** - Re-enter your password
4. Accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy
5. Click **Create a free account**

  If you received a workspace invitation, use the link in your email to register. This will automatically add you to the inviting workspace.

## Email Verification [#email-verification]

After registering, you'll need to verify your email:

1. Check your inbox for an email from VitalSentinel
2. Click the verification link in the email
3. You'll see a confirmation that your email is verified, with a link to continue to your dashboard

  Didn't receive the email? On the confirmation screen shown right after you sign up, check your spam folder or click "Resend verification email".

## First Login [#first-login]

After verifying your email:

1. Enter your email and password
2. Click **Sign In**
3. You'll be guided through creating your first workspace

## Setting Up Your Profile [#setting-up-your-profile]

After logging in, customize your profile:

1. Click your avatar in the top-right corner
2. Select **User Settings**
3. Update your profile information:
   * **First Name** and **Last Name**
   * **Timezone** - Used for displaying dates across your dashboards

  Your profile picture is generated from your name - a colored circle with your initial. No third-party avatar service is used, and there is no upload.

## Security Settings [#security-settings]

We recommend enabling two-factor authentication (2FA) for added security:

1. Open **User Settings** and scroll to the **Two-factor authentication** section
2. Click **Enable Two-Factor Authentication**
3. Scan the QR code with an authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Authy, etc.)
4. Enter the verification code
5. Save your backup codes in a secure location

## Email Preferences [#email-preferences]

Configure what notifications you receive:

1. Open **User Settings** and scroll to the **Email notifications** section
2. Choose your notification preferences

New accounts start subscribed to a short series of getting-started emails. Turn them off any time with the **Send me product and onboarding emails** switch in that section, or with the unsubscribe link in the footer of any of those emails. Account, security, and billing emails are always sent.
