# On-page reports

The **On-page** group has four reports: **Content**, **Structured data**, **Social tags** and **Images**. They read the page as it is in your browser, after JavaScript runs.

## Before you start [#before-you-start]

- Open the popup and click **On-page** in the sidebar. The group opens and shows its four reports.
- A number next to a report shows its count of errors and warnings.

## Content [#content]

The **Content** report starts with the issues that it found, for example a missing H1 or a skipped heading level.

### Title and description [#title-and-description]

The report shows the title and the meta description, with:

- The number of characters. The extension recommends 30 to 60 characters for the title and 70 to 160 for the description.
- The width in pixels, compared with the width that Google shows in desktop results.
- A bar that is green, amber or red. Amber means that the length is outside the recommended range, or that Google cuts the text.

### Google snippet preview [#google-snippet-preview]

The **Google snippet preview** shows how the page can look in Google desktop results. It shows the site name, the address, the title and the description. If Google cuts the title or the description, the text below the preview tells you after which words. If the page has no meta description, the preview says that Google shows text that it picks from the page.

The preview loads the favicon of the site. In offline mode, the preview shows an empty circle instead.

### Search Console data [#search-console-data]

If you are signed in and the site is monitored, the section **Google Search Console · Last 90 days** shows data from Google. It shows the clicks, impressions, CTR, average position and top queries of the page. Click **Open in app** to see the data in [Google Search Console](/google-search-console/overview).

### Headings and meta [#headings-and-meta]

The **Headings** section shows the outline of all headings, H1 to H6. Amber marks a heading that skips a level, for example an H4 directly after an H2. The **Meta** section shows the language, the word count, the viewport and, if the page has them, the author, published and modified dates.

## Structured data [#structured-data]

The **Structured data** report reads the JSON-LD on the page. Each item shows its type and one of these chips:

| Chip | Meaning |
|------|---------|
| **Eligible** | The item has all the required properties of its rich result type |
| **Eligible · 1 warning** | The item can get a rich result, but it does not have some recommended properties |
| **Not eligible** | The item does not have a required property |
| **No rich result type** | Google has no rich result for this type, or the extension does not check this type |

The extension checks the required and recommended properties of common rich result types, for example Article, Product, BreadcrumbList, FAQPage, Recipe and Event. A BreadcrumbList shows as the trail that Google shows, for example "Home › Blog › Post".

The buttons at the top:

- **Rich Results Test** opens the Google Rich Results Test for the page in a new tab.
- **Schema.org validator** opens the Schema.org validator for the page in a new tab.
- **Copy JSON-LD** copies all the JSON-LD of the page.

JSON-LD that the extension cannot parse shows in a red note. Microdata types show in the **Microdata** section.

## Social tags [#social-tags]

The **Social tags** report shows how the page looks when somebody shares it:

- **Facebook / LinkedIn**: the image, the host, the title and the description from the Open Graph tags.
- **X**: the same image, title and description, in the card size that `twitter:card` sets.

The **Tags** section lists every Open Graph and X tag. A missing `og:title`, `og:description`, `og:image` or `og:url` is a warning. If an X tag is missing but the Open Graph tag exists, the row says "Falls back to" with the Open Graph tag.

In offline mode, the extension does not load the preview image. The preview then says "Not loaded in offline mode".

## Images [#images]

The **Images** report lists all the images on the page. The tiles at the top count the images, the images with a missing alt attribute, the oversized images and the images in a legacy format.

If smaller files are possible, a banner shows the estimated savings. The estimate assumes images resized to twice their shown size, and WebP or AVIF files that are about 30% smaller. Only images with a known file size count.

| Filter | Meaning |
|--------|---------|
| **Missing alt** | The image has no `alt` attribute |
| **Oversized** | The file is much wider than the image on the screen |
| **No width or height** | The image has no `width` or `height` attribute, which can cause layout shift |
| **Lazy above the fold** | The image is in the first screen but loads lazily, which slows LCP |
| **Not lazy** | The image is below the first screen but does not load lazily |
| **Legacy format** | The image is larger than 20 KB and is not in WebP, AVIF or SVG |

An empty alt text shows as "Empty alt text – fine if decorative". The table shows the first 100 images. Click **Show all** to see the others.

In offline mode, the extension does not load thumbnails.
